Comments and Trivia
Background:
A charity record put together by Rob Morrish to raise money for the Birmingham Children's Hospital. The concept was to get modern Birmingham bands to record modern versions of songs by Birmingham bands from the past. Blank tapes were sent out to various bands to solicit contributions, and the results were pressed up on vinyl (in fairly limited numbers I would imagine...). However, it seems the response was less than was hoped for, and it is unclear whether the charitable intentions of the project were realised.
Some of the bands who were sent tapes didn't even bother to reply or even send the blank tape back in the provided prepaid envelope. Those listed in the accompanying booklet are: Toyah, Head of David, P.W.E.I, Pigbros, Mighty Lemon Drops, Jaki Graham, Ruby Turner, Rumblefish, Wonderstuff.
Participants:
Ted Chippington: Legendary Birmingham stand-up comedian. These days styling himself as Reverend Ted Chippington
Twenty Second Sect: 'Australian Superstars' as the Brum Brum sleeve proclaims. Read a good interview with them at Noise For Heroes
Con-Dom: Check out their website for more info.
Fridge Death: Daren Garret's first band. Described as the "Black Country's answer to Butthole Surfers" (described by Daren that is...). There is quite a tie up between Fridge Death and Pram - they went on tour in Germany together in 1990 (as part of a "youth cultural exchange"), and after Daren joined Pram he took along Fridge Death's trumpet player Al (aka The Mysterious Verdigris Horn).
Snout Int.: No information available
Squidgy: No information available
Burning Buddhists: Rob Morrish's band (he who set the whole project up of course). Daren Garet was also a member and says of them "we never rehearse... just plug in and make a freeform racket for 20
minutes"
Booklet:
The album came with a booklet containing a selection of acceptance and rejection letters, and some other bits and bobs. See the scans below.

Questions
Was any money actually raised from this project? Seems unlikely.
Who are/were Snout Int. and Squidgy?
